Weekly Roundup 2.13

Welcome to another edition of our Weekly Roundup, as well as Super Bowl Weekend! The sports world has been in an uproar over the last week; with Week 3 of Athletes Unlimited basketball, NBA trade deadline, WNBA free agency, and Super Bowl Sunday. With so much going on, the sneaker world has been a little quiet over the past few weeks. With a few releases pushed back, it has left us wanting more and contemplating on what to cop and what to pass up.

Adidas and Bad Bunny linked up again on a different model that fuses the Forum and the Powerphase sneakers. Named the Forum PWR, the shoe is covered in multiple shades of tan and different pastels. The tongue is still double layered and the heel tab remains the same as the previous Bad Bunny models and special branding appears on the tongue and each side panel and reads “Benito”.

Nike gave us a few classics this week, with the Nike Air Max 95 “Ironstone” and the Nike Air Huarache “Purple Punch”. The earth tone Air Max 95 is covered in multiple shades of green and brown with hairy suede and canvas panels. The yellow swooshes and lace loops bring a simple pop to this classic design. The Huarache “Purple Punch” has come back in its true OG form. This clean sneaker comes in white leather and a neoprene upper with a black and purple bootie. The Huarache branding on the tongue completes this Nike staple.

With it being a major football weekend, bringing the Nike Air Trainer 1 back was a no-brainer. Released with a slight twist, the Nike Air Trainer 1 “Coriander” made its’ debut this week and was an instant hit. The popular 80’s trainer has been altered with a utilitarian strap replacing the usual forefoot Velcro strap. The other notable changes are the different paneling with mesh and reflective materials, and a giant pull tab on the tongue.

Jordan Brand released two variations of the Retro 5 this past week. The Air Jordan 5 “Racer Blue” and the Women’s exclusive Air Jordan 5 Low “Girls That Hoop”. That Jordan 5 “Racer Blue” comes in a black nubuck upper with racer blue detailing on the tongue, tongue liner, and midsole. This pair is almost identical to the Metallic 5 pair and is one to have in the closet. The “Girls That Hoop” Retro 5 is an ode to women’s basketball and the passion that comes with the sport. This pair features an arctic orange leather upper with hits of black and Siren Red providing some dope contrast on this clean sneaker. The color palette represents some the refurbished outdoor courts around the world.

Not a crazy week on the release calendar, but definitely some heat to add to the closet. Nike also released the Acronym x Nike Blazer Low and this sneaker put a crazy twist on the OG classic. As always, continue the good hunt and remember to rise, grind and buy sneakers!
