Vans Vault Gets Artsy with Frida Kahlo
The trio has vulcanized soles, as well as leather panels on the heel liners – a standard for the Vault line that adds greatly to the quality of products.
Vans Vault is known for its’ art and culture-influenced collaborations. After introducing the Van Gogh inspired products last year, the Vault line has just increased to include a special collection of sneakers, celebrating the life and art of Frida Khalo – the Mexican OG selfie queen, activist, and painter.
The whole project was run in partnership with the Bank of Mexico and approved by the Frida Kahlo Corporation.
The collection consists of 3 models: Sk8-Hi LX with green toe caps and the painter’s self-portraits on the sides, Authentic LX covered with watermelon print and embroidered ‘Viva La Vida’ words; and Slip-On LX with a reference to Kahlo’s most popular ‘Self-Portrait with Necklace of Thorns and Hummingbird’.
The trio has vulcanized soles, as well as leather panels on the heel liners – a standard for the Vault line that adds greatly to the quality of products.
Prices range between $80-90 USD, and I feel that these would make great summer sneakers – light, durable and colorful.
Which one do you like the most? For me, it would have to be the Authentics!
