Angel McCoughtry Honors Tina Thompson on Game Day

On August 18th, Angel McCoughtry made an important announcement on social media, before her game against the Chicago Sky. McCoughtry was going to honor Tina Thompson during the game, by wearing the same iconic red lipstick look Thompson is famous for.

Tina Thompson was elated to find out on social media that McCoughtry was honoring her in this way. Thompson commented, “This is sooooooo much love! Appreciate you Angel!!!! Wishing you major BUCKETS!! Humble thanks! I’ll be tuned in!!!” During the game, Tina Thompson gave McCoughtry her seal of approval, by mentioning she “killed it”, on Instagram.

Thompson was a part of the legendary Houston Comets team, who won four consecutive WNBA Championships in 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000. Thompson started wearing the red lipstick, when she played in college at the University of Southern California. The MAC Diva lipstick stuck, as a part of her uniform for the rest of her career.

This WNBA season is Angel McCoughtry’s first season with the Las Vegas Aces, after being with the Atlanta Dream since being drafted in 2009. She is currently averaging 15.5 points a game.

As Thompson said, I think all WNBA fans can agree McCoughtry wore the legendary red lipstick well, while getting to honor one of the best players of all time.
