Chicago Sky Sign Veteran Center Astou Ndour
The Chicago Sky has signed veteran center Astou Ndour to a one-year contract. Per team policy, additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“I’m happy to announce that we’ve signed Astou for next season,” said Sky General Manager and Head Coach James Wade. “We feel like 2019 was a breakout year for her, and although she wasn’t able to be with us in 2020 because of different circumstances, her presence was always felt with us. It is the type of presence in our locker room and on the court that we sorely missed, so we’re happy to have her back in the Chicago Sky uniform, where we feel that she belongs.”
Ndour (6’5, 150) rejoins the Sky for her third stint with Chicago (2018-19) after spending the 2020 season with the Dallas Wings. She appeared in 13 games with the Wings last season and made five starts.
Entering her sixth WNBA season, Ndour has registered averages of 5.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in 13.4 minutes of play across 94 career games.
Originally drafted by the San Antonio Stars (now the Las Vegas Aces) out of Gran Canaria, Spain with the No. 16 overall pick of 2014 WNBA Draft, Ndour, born in Senegal, is a decorated Olympic medalist, five-time FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup champion, and 2019’s FIBA Women’s Eurobasket MVP.
