The Indiana Fever signed free agent guard, Kamiah Smalls, to a contract today. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
The team also announced guard Erica Wheeler is not expected to join the Fever for the remainder of the 2020 regular season.
“Erica is following the WNBA Medical Protocol and we will continue to go through the necessary steps to help her during this time,” Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Tamika Catchings said. “We are also excited about bringing back Kamiah to the Fever. We feel her energy and approach to the game will mesh well with our team and can’t wait to get her on the court in a Fever jersey.”
Smalls, who was the 28th overall selection in the 2020 WNBA Draft on April 17 by the Fever, was released by the team on May 19.
The Philadelphia native and two-time Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year ended her career averaging 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 29.7 minutes per contest in 130 games at James Madison University.
Smalls was the fourth player from James Madison to be drafted into the WNBA and ended her collegiate career in nine all-time top-10 statistical categories with the program.
