Game Day | Las Vegas Aces

Las Vegas Aces Are Final Bound

The semi-final game between No. 7 Connecticut Sun and No. 1 Las Vegas Aces ended up being only a three-point win for the Aces, after being down as much as 16 points in the first half. With this Aces win, it is the second time in franchise history the team has made it to the finals. But the last time they made it, the year was 2008, and they were the San Antonio Silver Stars, with Becky Hammon was their star player.

A’ja Wilson played like the MVP she is, with 23 points, 11 rebounds, and playing all 40 minutes of the game. Wilson played in her custom Salmon Pink and Apple Green Nike Zoom BB NXT shoes during the last game of the semi-finals. The shoes pay homage to her Oh So Pretty Sorors of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

Angel McCoughtry, Danielle Robinson, and Carolyn Swords showed up big time in the win against the Sun. McCoughtry pulled out the Adidas Dame 6 ‘NBA Jam’ edition pair of sneaks for her 20-point game performance. Swords, who came out of retirement to join the Aces again for one more season, was the spark they needed to combat the 18 turnovers the Aces gave away.

The Aces were missing their 6th Woman of the Year, Dearica Hamby, due to a knee injury for the semi-final game. Hamby usually makes a huge impact off the bench. Getting the win without her shows how much depth this team really has. Hamby will be out the rest of the season due to her injury.

The Aces will face off against the Seattle Storm for a best of five finals series starting on Friday. The final series is a must watch. The Aces beat Seattle both times they met in the regular season, but Seattle never backs down from a challenge.
