The Mercury Is Changing It Up

Even though it was a rough game for both the Phoenix Mercury and the Atlanta Dream, their shoe game was still on point.

Even though it was a rough game for both the Phoenix Mercury and the Atlanta Dream, their shoe game was still on point. Some players on the team are staying with the same shoes, but some are mixing it up and keeping their shoe game fresh. The players’ shoe game is always an interesting thing. Whether they change them or not, or even bring back a pair they wore previously in the season, as they are keeping all of the sneakerheads on their toes.

On the afternoon of the big World Cup win for the U.S.A. Women’s National Soccer Team, the Mercury game honored our servicemen and women, with the theme of Hoops and Heroes. Some new colorways made an appearance at this very patriotic game. Diana Taurasi wore the LeBron 16 PE, with a sick custom color pattern using the Mercury team colors. Essence Carson always brings the heat and showed off three different pairs in her collection during Sunday’s game. She wore the Nike Air Max 720 OBJ walking into the arena, the Air Force Max CB OG ‘Purple’ during warm-ups, and the Nike Zoom Freak 1 Antetokounbros during the game.

Brittney Griner has been staying with the Kyrie ‘Be True’ shoes and they must be giving her good luck, as she has been one of the top scorers for the Mercury this season and made 31 points in the July 7th game. She made her 600th career block and made history by being only the third player in WNBA history to do so. Her last two free throws grabbed the win for the Mercury, after a scary ending for the team.

I always enjoy what Camille Little wears, who recently announced her retirement from the league after this season. She rocked a custom pair of the Kobe A.D. ‘CL 20’s for the matchup against the Dream. Little wasn’t the only Mercury player wearing the Kobe A.D. shoes, as Briann January went with the Kobe’s as well.

Almost all of the players of the Atlanta Dream had blue shoes matching their team colors. The Dream didn’t just only rock with Nike on their feet either. Alex Bentley showed off in the Under Armor Curry 6 ‘Christmas In The Town’ kicks. The Dream fought hard against the Mercury, but couldn’t finish with the win. The Mercury will take on the Washington Mystics next, which is deemed to be an interesting match up, not just in basketball, but also, in the shoe game.
