Weekly Roundup 4.18
This has been an eventful week to say the least in the sneaker world. Sneakerheads had a rough time getting their hands on a few releases, and it caused a small uprising. Resellers sold sneakers for up to 300% markup this past week, making it even harder to pick up some of these nice releases.
Kevin Durant has became only the the third player to release fourteen signature shoes this week, with the KD 14. The first colorway comes in a nice black and white scheme and this sneaker brings back the strap seen on many other KD models. Design on the strap is said to be for one of KDs nickname, the Slim Reaper. Also, featuring a full length Zoom Air Strobel system for maximum comfort because we all know some of the older models look amazing but give some issues on court. Nike also released exclusively in women’s sizes, the Nike Dunk Low “Green Glow”. Per the name, this shoe comes in a nice bright green and white colorblocking scheme, with a clean leather finish.
The sneaker of the week and the sneaker that caused all the fuss this week was the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Hyper Royal”. Jordan Brand introduced this shoe as part of the Spring ‘21 Air Jordan Collection and from the start, the hype wasn’t too great but closer to the release, the hype surely heightened. People took to the web and all of social media, complaining about the drawing done on SNKRS and the prices that resellers were asking. Prices skyrocketed after release and prices have been seen as high as $600+. With this shoe bringing on hype like this, we can only imagine what other shoes this year such as the Lighting 4 and Cool Grey 11 will bring.
Other notable releases this week were the Reebok Answer 4, the Sean Wotherspoon x Adidas ZX 8000 “SuperEarth”, and the Aime Leon Dore x New Balance P550. The hype is only going to get worst as the year moves along, so stay tuned and keep your ear to the ground. As always, good hunting and rise, grind and buy sneakers.
