adidas YEEZY 380 Calcite Glow

After my first unsuccessful encounter with YEEZY 380 (see the Oat article here), I decided to give this model another try – this time with the Calcite Glow colorway.

The shoes were not that hyped, so it was easy to grab a pair (at least here in Europe). The colorway looks very clean and I was pleasantly surprised after opening the box. The perforated Primeknit upper is kept in white/gray/calcite, while the milky midsole is packed with phosphors causing it to glow in the dark. Honestly, these YEEZYS feel like proper, spooky Halloween sneakers. It’s a shame we’re already in November!

For a little while now, adidas has been adding an extra pair of laces to the 380s. By default, Calcite Glows feature a looped lace system, which is closed with a rubber kind of lock, so you don’t have to lace them at all. There is also a classic pair of laces in the box if you wanna keep it old-school.

I have to admit, the Calcite Glow colorway is probably my favorite out of all 380s. It looks well on feet, can match quite a lot of outfits and you can just slide your feet in without even lacing them up.

This time I bought a pair 0.5 size bigger than my usual choice and I must admit the difference is huge – the shoes are way more comfortable, they don’t hurt my toes and just overall feel good. While the feet still tend to slide to the front due to the thick heel part of the sole, the bigger size leaves ‘room for error’.

Calcite Glows were an easy cop, but I don’t think it will be easy to get a new pair for below retail though. If you don’t feel like dropping $250 on them, you could always look for a worn pair, as I’ve noticed that the value of 380s on second-hand market is surprisingly low.
