Air Jordan 4 Taupe Haze

Mail call! I’ve just received my newest purchase and am ready to tell you all about it. The Air Jordan 4 Taupe Haze dropped a week or so ago and, as usual, sold out instantly. I guess nobody’s surprised anymore, right?

Given its’ resemblance to the Friends&Family Olive Travis Scott Air Jordan 4s, the Taupe Haze colorway will probably be amongst the most hyped Jordan Retro releases of the year.

Let’s start from the basics – the shoebox. It’s actually pretty cool, as it’s not your regular AJ4 box. It’s all covered in paint splatter pattern and is of taupe color, with a big Jordan Flight logo on the lid.

The shoes themselves are kept in brown, black and infrared colorway with cracked, wear-away panels on the upper. The mid-panel, however, is already made of nice, soft suede. The thing that’s a bit different for this release is the tongues, which are thicker than standard Retro 4s and the padding around the ankles kind of reminds me of a memory foam, as it’s very spongy.

I really like the colorway in person, but I’m not necessarily a fan of the cracked upper effect. The flakey parts are supposed to wear away as you use the shoes, but I’ve seen people online removing the whole layer intentionally. Once removed, smooth suede panels in light beige will resurface and that, if you ask me, looks super clean.
