Is buying on StockX worth it?

StockX – a magical place where you can find all your streetwear grails. This commodity though, comes with a hefty price to pay – literally. Let’s be honest, most of us have already sold quite a few pairs in such marketplaces, because who doesn’t like a quick buck, but have many people actually purchased sneakers from there? Well, I haven’t until this month, so I thought I would share my experience with those who are still on the fence about that.

I was quite bitter after taking an L on the Converse x KITH x Looney Tunes collaboration, but thought that I was already over it. Unfortunately, a week after the release, I still regretted not having been able to cop, so I decided to try my luck with StockX. I placed a bid on a 8.5 US, as the ‘Buy It Now’ price was not really satisfactory. Since none of the sellers accepted my offer for a while, I decided to go on about my life and I completely forgot about the bid. Suddenly one day, an ‘Order Confirmed’ e-mail landed in my inbox, and after less than 2 weeks, the Chucks were alas with me.

Overall, the purchase process was quite straightforward and easy. StockX informs you of every step along the way (seller shipped the item, item received at warehouse, item shipped to buyer, item delivered) so you feel well-informed and relaxed. The payment is taken automatically from your card that is saved in the account. There are no hidden fees and everything is transparent. The delivery itself took 2 business days, after positive sneaker verification. I only wish the packaging was a bit better, as my sneaker box arrived pretty damaged, but I’ve addressed it with StockX Consumer Service, so hopefully they will be able to help.

I have always perceived StockX as an expensive solution to taking an L on a release day. However, I have to admit I grabbed my pair for less than I would have paid buying directly from KITH’s website, which means there are actually some major steals to be had. Of course, I prefer buying directly from a retailer, but I will consider StockX next time too.

Let me know if you have any questions about the process – I will be happy to help. And if you’re looking for a review of the pair I bought, you can always click here and check it out!
