Nike Air Max 90 ‘Bacon’ Making a Big Return

Who’s hungry? Cause Nike’s serving some bacon!

As part of the 2021 Air Max Day celebration, the Oregon giant decided to retro one of its’ iconic models – Air Max 90 ‘Bacon’.

Originally released in 2004, in collaboration with now-closed sneaker shop Dave’s Quality Meat, the shoe is made to resemble a slice of bacon. The shoes quickly found a lot of hungry fans, their prices skyrocketed and availability was very scarce. So now, after 17 years – they’re back!

The 2021 release features the exact same colors as the original. The upper is made of a mix of materials: suede, nubuck and what seems to be a very buttery leather. Nike has also added arch supports as part of the deal and you’re getting 3 pairs of laces in total: red, pink, and factory-laced tan.

I have grown to really appreciate Air Max 90 and this colorway is a great part of Nike history too. My pair is still on the way, however, size-wise, I went for my usual – 8.5 US. With the new, improved shape of the upper that’s been introduced in 2020 (for example on the Air Max III Laser Blue), I have noticed that the shoes fit a bit smaller than previous releases, such as Air Max 90 Be True 2019. So you can either go with your true size or order 0.5 size bigger to feel comfortable, if you like more space.
