Weekly Roundup 3.27 (Air Max Day Edition)

March is winding down and the end of March always brings one of my personal favorite sneaker holidays, Air Max Day. A day to show off the Nike Air Max; the many variations, colorways, collaborations, and each silhouette from the Air Max 1 all the way to the newest models.

Nike did not half step this week with the releases for Air Max Day. The Women’s Nike Air Max 97 Swarovski “Polar Blue” hit SNKRS on the Thursday and for a price tag of $400, a lot feel this shoe would sit, but that is far from reality. This sneaker sold out in seconds and these are sure worth the price. The upper is completely covered in Swarovski crystals, giving the Air Max 97 a little extra shimmer. On Friday, we got a change to put our hands on the newest model in the Air Max family with the Nike Air Max Max Pre-Day “Liquid Lime”. This design is inspired by the OG runners and the OG running catalog. Upgraded with the more modern details and sustainable materials and an exposed air bubble, this is the future of the Nike Air Max collection.

The Nike Air Max 90 “Bacon” was a must-have for OG Nike running heads. First released back in 2004, these have always been a head turner and the newest edition is true to the 2004 original. Coming in with a leather and suede upper made to resemble the many shades and colors of strips of bacon.

The Air Max 1 was the inaugural Air Max sneaker released back in 1987. Tinker Hatfield, the man, the myth, the legend, is the man behind the Air Max 1 and wanted to show the exposed air bubble and incorporate the air technology on a comfortable running shoe. Over the years, the Air Max 1 has been a part of crazy collaborations and we have gotten many of the OG pairs released over the years in an anniversary celebration of the sneaker. This week, we got a chance to grab another crazy collab and retro with Clot: the Clot x Air Max 1 “Kiss of Death”. Originally released in 2006, this pair sports a tan upper, red leather detailing, and an orange midsole. The most notable feature on this sneaker is the see through toe box. A few tweaks were made on this model, such as increased ventilation and a multicolored foot graphic added to the outsole.

Other notable releases this week were the Pharrell x Adidas NMD Hu “Pink”, the Air Jordan 5 “Stealth”, and the Adidas Yeezy 700 V3 “Kyanite” and two colorways in the Yeezy Foamrunners. The summer is around the corner so the releases will keep getting crazier and crazier. Stay tuned for all release info and as always, good hunting and rise, grind, and buy sneakers.
