WMNS Air Jordan 1 ‘Satin Black Toe’

A typical Saturday in the sneaker community consists of waking up, eating a bacon egg and cheese from the corner store, and heading your way to the local sneaker shop, to cop the latest kicks dropping that day. Those were the days. In this day and age, you would have to fight your way in the store, to get a pair.

This past Saturday was a different experience. The Air Jordan 1 Satin Black Toe was released as a women’s exclusive (Sizes W5.5-W12). I sat down with the owner of Robertusainc and James Ruiz to discuss how the release should be handled.

“This is a women’s release and should be fair for all women. We should enjoy copping a pair of Jays without the hassle and fighting our way inside the store.”

James Ruiz and Robert agreed and allowed me to choose 10 women from the sneaker community to cop for. Some of the women that were chosen have impacted the sneaker community in their unique way and spread equality to all. Robertusainc is a local mom-and-pop shop, that has been open for 20 years and has been spreading love to the community, through sneakers.

Saturday came, and everyone was lined up in front of Robertusainc, to cop the Satin 1’s. There was chaos, as everyone was trying to get in the store. Robert gave out pairs to some people that were outside, but held pairs for the women, as he was concerned about the women’s safety while waiting. Few of the 10 women were signing into Nike SNKRS and doing the 10-minute draw so that, any women outside, who couldn’t go inside the store, were still able to walk away with a pair. Even though there were a lot of sad faces, the majority of the pairs went to women. Robertusainc’s goal is to make sure women get their hands on the latest footwear, without being stressed out on not copping, as well as maintaining their safety. Some women were so happy and pleased how everything went and got themselves a guaranteed pair. The finishing details of the shoes include the black metal Wings logo on the heel to complete its premium appeal.

Overall the experience was down as an amazing day in the books, and a memory for a lot of women, who will remember this for the rest of their lives. Thank you to Robertusainc, for making sure women were able to get their hands on the Satins. Here is a highlight captured during the release.
