Weekly Roundup 2.27

Let The Good Times Roll!

Welcome to another edition of the Weekly Roundup. Here in South Louisiana, we are currently celebrating the Mardi Gras holiday, and if you have never experienced this holiday, please make time to do so! Beads, bands, floats, balls and everything you can think of, are happening in the Big Easy, but I must warn you, please don’t wear your good kicks.

Another quiet week on the release calendar, but most know that the beginning of the year is usually a little slow following the holidays. Some major things have happened outside of shoes, that have a lot of sneaker people raising eyebrows, such as Footlocker and Nike having a few issues and Nike announcing a new VP of SNKRS. Vital changes, especially to the normal consumer, because if Nike removes SKUs and footwear from Footlocker, where do we go from here?

Nike and the Nike Dunk are still going strong with release after release and restock after restock. Last week, we got a chance to grab a few new Nike Dunks: the Nike Dunk High “Acid Wash” and Nike Dunk High “Light Chocolate”. Both follow the normal color-blocking on the Nike Dunk that was being used to, but the “Acid Wash” High gives a dope twist to this model. The pair comes in an acid-washed overlay with a yellow midsole making the pair look like something right out of the 80s. The second color scheme features a brown suede, tan leather, and cream paneling. This pair is clean! Very mellow and mild but a head-turner. Other features of this Dunk High are the hints of green on the tongue and heel tan.

It’s not a secret that the brothers of Omega Psi Phi runs deep in our sports, sneaker, and entertainment world. From Terrance J, Steve Harvey, Shaq, Vince Carter, Rickey Smiley, just to name a few, all represent their fraternity with pride and have no problem letting you know about their organization anytime it is brought up. Also included in that long list of names is Michael Jordan. To pay homage to him and so many others, Jordan Brand released the Air Jordan 1 High “Brotherhood”. This clean Jordan 1 comes in purple and gold leather with a white mid-panel. This is one of the brightest colorways to date of the iconic sneaker.

Other notable releases this week are the Women’s Nike Air Huarache “WM”, Women’s Nike Air Force 1 “Dark Beetroot”, the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 “Dazzling Blue”, and the G-Dragon x Nike Kwondo 1. A slow month around releases, but it will definitely turn around starting in March. Keep your ear to the streets and as always, keep up the good hunt and remember to rise, grind and buy sneakers! At times like these, catch up on a few releases that you may have missed from previous months. Remember, some old heat can bring a little flare to your sneaker room, just like something new.
