Now, the legendary silhouette is back in its Cool Grey make-up, which first released in 2001 and was the first Jordan Brand shoe to don the Cool Grey colorway. MJ also rocked them as a member of the Washington Wizards.
The iconic model returns boasting its OG specs, including a higher-cut patent leather mudguard and molded sock liner, along with a genuine full leather upper. Offsetting these main components are a translucent, icy blue rubber outsole and subtle white branding on the tongue, collar, and heel. Underneath, the shoe comes with original Zoom Air cushioning and exposed carbon fiber plates for comfort and stability.
This year’s iteration releases in full family and extended women’s sizing, further extending the product’s influence and giving it a chance to introduce itself to a new generation of sneaker lovers.
Retail Launch Date: December 11, 2021

HISTORY OF THE AIR JORDAN XI
When Tinker Hatfield created the Air Jordan XI, he employed his trademark iconoclastic approach by using new materials and never-before-seen technology. The inventive design, complete with best-in-class performance, comfort, and an unprecedented touch of luxury, debuted as MJ returned from his first retirement.
The eye-grabbing shoe put the league (and the shoe game) on notice. The next year, he wore the shoe while leading the Bulls to a record-setting 72-win season en route to his fourth MVP and fourth NBA championship.
The combination of premium materials, a uniquely creative design and MJ’s on-court dominance while donning the shoe contributed to the perfect storm that led to the birth of what is now a cultural icon. Fearless ones around the world continue to rock the Air Jordan XI — the shoe that embodies elegance and epitomizes excellence; the sneaker that many now consider to be the most beloved and coveted in the game.
