For the third consecutive week the Connecticut Sun received Eastern Conference Player of the Week recognition. The league announced today, Jonquel Jones was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week. This is the fourth time this season and 11th time in her career Jones has received the honor.
During Week 11 of play, the Connecticut Sun faced the Washington Mystics on Tuesday, Aug. 31. The Sun’s 85-75 victory over the Mystics was highlighted by a 31-point performance from Jones, her second of the season. For the 14th time this year, the 6-6 forward posted a double-double by pulling down a game-high 14 rebounds. Additionally, she blocked three Washington shots, secured two steals, and shot 71 percent on 7-of-12 from the field.
This season, Jones has also been named Kia WNBA Player of the Month two times, most recently for the month of August.
