Weekly Roundup 2.7

Welcome to February! New month, new goals, and time for new sneakers and adding more flavor to your closet. I believe we can all agree that 2020 was a year to remember, but none of us are looking back. 2021 has already been insane with rumors of many anticipated retros and twists of some of the old classics. This week was no different.

Nike hit the ground running this year, with news of some highly anticipated retros and new sneakers . The Ambush x Nike Dunk High “Cosmic Fuchsia” finally hit retailers, after being postponed a few times but did not disappoint. The second colorway in the Ambush x Nike collab comes in an all-pink upper with the extended rubber swoosh, exposed foam at the top of the tongue, and plastic panel on the heel displaying Ambush branding. Nike also gave us a different rendition of the classic Nike Air Force 1. This design shows the low top covered in vacuum sealed material that makes this sneaker appear as if it is coated in bubblegum. There are a few other new elements like the pull tabs added to the tongue and the heel, a pull cord lacing system, and highlighter yellow branding on the heel.

Jordan Brand celebrates this weekend’s Super Bowl with a special low top colorway in a low top Jordan Retro 12. The model features a black textile upper, red overlay, and metallic gold detailing. We don’t believe this was done on purpose, but this colorway is very similar to both teams representing each conference in Super Bowl LV. Maybe Jordan Brand has a little bit of the Simpsons future forecasting up their sleeve. Also, from Jordan Brand this week is another colorway in the Air Jordan 5. This Jordan 5 alters the usual makeup of this signature model, with adding reflective material, which is usually placed on the top of the tongue to the quarter panel and the tongue bottom. The rest of the upper is covered in black mesh and grey suede and a cement print covers the signature shark teeth pattern on the midsole.

Other notable releases this week were the Cardi B x Reebok collection and the Pharrell x Adidas NMD Hu “Cream”. The latest pair of sneakers with the Three Stripes sports a clean cream Primeknit upper with black lacing and embroidery, blue inserts, and a pastel pink heel.
